Top Stops In Arizona On Route 66
The Petrified National Park is just what it sounds like, a natural park that is full of petrified forest remains. The color scheme of the view here will amaze any passers by, as the mountains show a bright white in many areas and fade to the rusty color of the rock on the ground. This are has many American Indian petroglyph sites to explore here. The agate bride is a natural formation creating a “bridge” made of stone that is not to be missed either. In 1906 this park was designated as National Monument. This truly is a “Kodak moment” so take some time to get all the photos you want here, then get ready to hit the road again!
Hotel Weatherford opened in 1900 and was a sight to see. This building had an amazing peek at the center of the roof and was one of Flagstaff, Arizona’s original wonders. The hotel was known for housing both presidents and gunslingers alike. There was a problem though, the roof was not built to stand the weather and collapsed under the weight of snow in 1915. Instead of simply fixing the roof, the owners built a bigger and better version of the original and it opened again in 1917.The Orpheum Theater was built around the same time as the Hotel Wetherford by the same owner and still operates and entertains a new era of visitor and cruiser along old Route 66.

There are many other interesting places to visit while you are in Flagstaff. The Museum Club, Arizona Snowbowl (Ice-skating Rink), Coconino National Forest and the Lowell Observatory are all worth a look. Once you have had enough of this great city, put you seat belt on we have one of the biggest destinations of our whole trip coming up next.
