The Top 10 Stops On Route 66 In California
We are finally on our last leg of our long journey and are entering California. The Golden State has a lot of history with Route 66 as it was started with getting to California in mind from the east. When the Route 66 board got together to plan out this major highway in the early twenties, they planned on this being not only a cross country route for residential travelers, but more importantly for commerce. As big business began to boom, this stretch of road from Chicago, Illinois to Los Angeles, California would offer an alternate route for shipping, business and commerce across the country.
California is one of the newer states of the union. However, much of American culture derived from California and it influences. Many movies were made along Route 66 and the stars stayed in hotels along the way. In this trek across on the Mother Road across southern California we are going to cross the Mojave Desert and go off the main highway and visit all of the ghost towns. We have to visit LA and Hollywood, a lot of Mother Road history is rooted here and both offer a lot of stops. So get ready as we start our journey across California on the legendary Route 66.
