So let me tell you where I would spend some time if you too decide to take the trip down old Route 66 yourself!</p>
<p>Well if we are going to take a trip down Route 66 I think there is no better place to start than right at the beginning.  Chicago, Illinois is the where Route 66 begins and so will our journey!  This is one of the largest cities in the country today, but that was not always the case.  Chicago has been through many trials and tribulations as it has burned down and built up again after The Great Chicago Fire of 1871.  This was one of the largest natural disasters in the 19th century, but did not slow down the growth of the windy city.</p>
<p>The historic Route 66 drive was very important for business travel between Chicago and St. Louis Missouri. This road was the most direct route at the time it was built. There are larger interstate highways that break up the original route, but there are still many sections that have some very historic relevancy and some new additions as well.</p>
<p>There are many points of interest in Chicago, but we will discuss a few of the main attractions that are actually on the main drag Route 66 here and then move on across Illinois.</p>
