There are also many of famous people that were born and raised in the Oklahoma area that were big contributors to the era and to the Mother Road Itself. Jack and Gladys Cutberth helped put Route 66 on the map and were residents of Clinton, Oklahoma. This couple was known as “Mr. and Mrs. Route 66” in the post WWII National Route 66 Association. One of the nations first nationally known superstars, Mr. Will Rogers was from Claremore, Oklahoma. Finally, the man known as “The Father of Route 66” Tulsa, Oklahoma inhabitant Cyrus Avery, made huge contributions to the lore of the Mother Road. There are many more, but we just don’t have time to list them all here.

We have been taking our cruise starting in Chicago and we are going all the way to Los Angeles, so we are going to continue on westward and list off some of our favorite stops along the way. Enough said, you should already have your music cranked and wind blowing in your hair at this point. So lets to get to the top 10 best stops while you cruise through Oklahoma on the historic Route 66.
