The Top 10 Stops On Route 66 In Missouri
1. The Magic House is one of many great places to visit while you pass through the St. Louis area on your trip across Route 66. However, there is no place like this anywhere else in the country, at least that we know of. You will want to bring the whole family to this unique building. The Magic House is considered to be a children’s museum, but is much more than that. The last time I visited, you would start off your experience in a large maze and as you continue you will be confronted with many scientific experiments, optical illusions and other fun learning experiences for the whole family.
The magic house has been redone since I last visited and now is much larger and has a lot more to offer, so if you are bringing the kids with you on your Route 66 journey this is must stop destination.
2. The Antique Toy Museum may be one of the strangest museums out there, but many of the Route 66’ers are looking for something different, so we think this may be just what you are looking for. The Antique Toy Museum is located in Stanton, Missouri and showcases toys from every decade. The slogan of this museum is “If you were ever a kid, you will love the toy museum” and it is a very fitting slogan for sure. It is amazing how seeing all your favorite toys from childhood brings back memories and gives you that warm fuzzy feeling on the inside. You will find all your favorite toys big and small right here. Take a minute to rewind and enjoy, before you hit the Mother Road and continue your journey.
While in this area of Missouri there are some other great stops to make. The Meramac Caverns and the Jesse James museum are some very popular points of interest in the Stanton area too. Meramac Caverns was Jesse James favorite hideout in his time and the museum dedicated to him has a lot of interesting history to share with travelers too.

Just wanted to let you know that your post re: Whitehall Mercantile needs to be updated. My mother, Thelma White, died April 13, 2010. My dad, Jerry White, is now operating the store.
