The Top 10 Stops On Route 66 In Missouri
9. The Route 66 Drive-In is located in Carthage, Missouri and is the official drive-in of the Mother Road. If you are spending some time in this area, this may be a great way spend some down time, before you hit the road again. There is nothing like a drive-in theater to bring back the memories, these are getting hard to find anymore and this one has served the Route 66 cruisers for many years.
Carthage, MO is also the home to the Ridley Automatic Motorcycle Shop. You will find all sorts of bikes, accessories and more here. This company also specialized in old style powered bicycles that you cannot find anywhere else. These are far from the huge choppers many Route 66 cruisers, but they sure are cool. If bikes aren’t your thing and you are a bookworm don’t worry, we got a stop coming up next, just for you.
10. The Joplin Museum Complex is located in – you guessed it Joplin, Missouri. If you are into history and love to visit museums, this is going to be one heck of a stop and this will also conclude our Route 66 Missouri site seeing drive. The Joplin Museum Complex has many separate museums in one easy to navigate location. Here are some of the great museums that you can stroll through, before you get ready to continue cruising The Mother Road: Dorothea B. Hoover Historical Museum, The Empire District Electric Company Museum, The Joplin Sports Authority Sports Hall of Fame, Everett J. Ritchie Tri-State Mineral Museum and the National Historical Cookie Cutter Museum.
If you are history buff, you will want to schedule a good portion of your day for this great museum complex and all it has to offer and plan on some night driving!
Well some old, some new and some yet undiscovered tourist attractions, all lie in the great state of Missouri. There is no better way to make you way across the state than driving the old Route 66. There is a lot more to experience in Missouri, but we have listed the most interesting and hopefully some of the most fun stops here. We hope that you enjoy your trip and that you are able to make the most out of your pit stops, now that you know a couple great places to sit down and take a load off while traveling the Mother Road. If you are going to keep on cruising we’ll see you in Oklahoma next!

Just wanted to let you know that your post re: Whitehall Mercantile needs to be updated. My mother, Thelma White, died April 13, 2010. My dad, Jerry White, is now operating the store.

Very Sorry for your loss.
