Top Stops in New Mexico On Route 66
Route 66 was decommissioned in 1984, but many places across the country have not let the road or its history die. You will see more and more places either popping up or getting fixed up as towns all along Route 66 are spending the time and money (sometimes federal grant money) to restore the roadside stops to their original state. America just doesn’t want to let the memories of the freedom and opportunity that this historic road stood for come to an end. We will take you through some of the most interesting and historic stops along the mother road as we cruise route 66 through New Mexico and get closer the end of the route in Los Angeles, California.
New Mexico has a lot to offer Route 66 travelers and we will start our journey on the east side of the state in Glenrio, right where we left off coming in from Texas. This city actually is split by the state line and has sections of town in both states. So leaving Glenrio, lets get to the top stops in New Mexico on Route 66!
