Top Stops in New Mexico On Route 66
The Blue Swallow Motel located in Tucumcari, New Mexico is a famous hotel on Route 66 that is covered in neon signs to draw in weary travelers as they pass by. This town is pretty much built along the legendary Mother Road as it claims 5 miles of Route 66 original road. You will see some other great examples of the way it used to be here in Tucumcari. There are a few other great 50’s style hotels, diners and drive ins along this stretch of historic Route 66. So if you are ready to stop for the night or get a meal to hit the road with, Tucumcari is great place to make a destination in your Route 66 cruise through New Mexico.

The City of Natural Lakes is what Santa Rosa, New Mexico is called by many. There are many natural lakes and streams in this area so there is no question where it got its nickname. You will find some interesting history in this town, including some history made on the big screen. Part of its history was made famous in the train scene of the movie The Grapes of Wrath when director John Ford chose this town for the location to shoot. There is also a great food stop in Santa Rosa that has been around since 1935. The Club Café has been bringing hot eats to the travelers of Route 66 for over seventy years and still is on great place to get your fill before you hit the road again.
