We think this is a must see for any cruiser as that is what these bad boys are build for, cruising.  When we think of the song lyrics “Get your motor running, head out on the highway…” we think Harleys!  This is one of the largest Harley-Davidson Shops we have been to and if you are motorcycle lover, you have to stop here and at least get a t-shirt to take home with you.

This shop was not around for the original cruisers of Route 66, but that is no reason to let a chance to visit the only Route 66 Harley shops in country.  This Harley shop is open every day of the week to accommodate the Route 66 cruisers.

The Rock Café located in Stroud, Oklahoma is a must stop “Rock Café” that is not to be missed.  The owner of this very unique eatery, once worked with Garth Brooks and told him off after being joked with too hard, as the story goes.  Of course you can ask her yourself, when you stop in.  Dawn Welch was born and raised in Oklahoma and is the entrepreneur who now runs the Rock Café.  The original building was constructed in 1936 on Route 66.  Dawn bought the old restaurant in 1993 and with the help of a government grant restored it to as close to original condition as possible.

In 1998 the Rock Café was listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.  There all sorts of peculiar stories of local travelers and travelers from all over the world that have made there way to this home-style restaurant.  The travelers who have been here all agree on one thing, the food is delicious!

The Round Barn is another most unique location along the drive through Oklahoma on Route 66.  You will find this huge perfectly round shaped barn along the north side of the original Route 66 in the heart of Arcadia, Oklahoma.   This barn was constructed in 1898 and was given some renovations in 1998 when the roof collapsed.   The barn is 60’ in diameter and 45’ tall.

This old barn used to house livestock and be the meeting place for local dances and other social events.  This 112-year-old barn is said to be the only “true” round barn in the country, as most are hexagonal or octagonal.  There is still an existing loft and a downstairs area to the barn; this is where you will find the gift shop.  Their gift shop is filled will all sorts of great Route 66 memorabilia and of course many postcards, candles, and various mock ups of the one and only round barn.
